Happy World Speech Day, everyone!
Today is a special day where we celebrate the power of words and how they can shape our lives. As I take a moment to reflect on this day, I would like to share my personal journey in Toastmasters over the last 1239 days.
During my tenure as Vice President Public Relations (VPPR), Vice President Education (VPE), and later President of the YMCA Kuala Lumpur Toastmasters Club, I had the opportunity to not only improve my public speaking skills but also gain valuable leadership experience. I am proud to say that due to our club’s EXCO, we received the President’s Distinguished Award during my time as the Club President and achieved the Triple Crown twice in a row. (Hopefully, a hat-trick is coming this year as well.)
In 2019, I was inspired by two speeches delivered at the UNGA (will reveal the speakers some other time ). These speeches motivated me so much to elevate my public speaking skills to facilitate my career and personal life.
Toastmasters not only helped me in that regard but also provided me with opportunities to learn about decision-making, teamwork, going global, and inspiring others to reach full potential through various leadership roles. Of course, I couldn’t have achieved all this without the support and guidance of my fellow club members ad toastmasters in District 51.
I am grateful to everyone who has supported me on this journey, and I wish you all a happy World Speech Day! Let’s continue to #EncourageAnUnexpectedVoice and celebrate the power of words. #Toastmasters#PublicSpeaking#Leadership
